Second hand Harley Davidson Engines

When you purchase a second hand Harley Davidson engine to mount onto any excising motorcycle or a Harley body that you might already have, you must be aware of the correct steps to follow in order to complete the process successfully.

One of the important maintenance procedures to complete is to replace the existing air filters. Failure to do so could result in your Harley Davidson  performing sluggishly, which in turn could result in higher fuel consumption and other problems. Also, if you are not careful during the process, it might cause damage to the engine itself in the long run.

The employees at Steves Auto Clinic, who pride themselves on refurbishing any second hand Harley Davidson engine , have been fully trained, and have the best knowledge on how to keep your machine in the best running condition possible .

Steps to follow when replacing the air filters on your second hand Harley Davidson engine:

  • It is important to gather all the needed tools for you to be able to replace the air filters correctly. You will need tools like different screwdrivers and wrenches which you will use as needed. Make sure to have different sizes as sizes will vary depending on which part of the engine you are working on.

You will then need to prepare the Harley Davidson engine by doing the following:

  • Make sure that the engine has been out of the body for a few hours so that all the parts of the engine are sufficiently cool to work on without burning yourself.
  • You could then mount the engine up at eye level to make it easier to work on.
  • Locate the air filter on the second hand Harley Davidson engine by finding the air filter housing. This is the cover that protects the air filter element and keeps dirt particles from the air from entering the filter. You will find the housing in line with the air intake tube. When you remove the housing you will find the filter itself inside.
You will then remove the old air filter and replace it with the new one by placing the filter into the same section as the removed one. Be sure though that you had purchase the correct size and type for the exact model of Harley Davidson engine, as there are different sizes.
